It is certainly no secret that I am a huge boat fan….especially, antique and classic boats. Not only am I a fan, but I own a few, and do restorations as well.
The summer boat show circuit is packed with shows across the country. The Antique and Classic Boat Society (www.acbs.org) is an international organization with over 8,000 members worldwide and 40+ chapters. There is literally a show every weekend in the season – sometimes multiple shows per weekend.
In addition to our local show, I typically go to a few more regional ones…especially Clayton NY, where the Antique Boat Museum (www.abm.org) is located.
My friend Matt Smith runs the Woody Boater blog (www.woodyboater.com), which is a daily news and lifestyle blog about classic boats. The banner – the top shot of his page – changes almost daily, and generally reflects on the story of the day.
I have been a contributer to his site for several years. Usually, I send him a photo or two, but lately, I’ve been sending him a dozen or so plus a write up, of shows I’ve been to or impromptu gatherings I’ve attended.
This year, I was fortunate enough to have multiple banner photos; Lake Dora, Lake Coboseecontee, Clayton, Lake Champlain and Lake George.
Here are the recent ones from August 2013. Matt added his logo and titles / credits in Photoshop.
